I had the honor to share a day with women in executive positions on Friday, November 4th, 2016 at the 2016 Women's Business Leadership Conference held by the Utah Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (UHCC). The UHCC is led by businessman Francisco Sotelo, a giving and caring member of society whose passion is to see the Hispanic community in Utah grow and succeed in their business endeavors. I mention Mr. Sotelo as I believe organizations are shaped by their leaders and those leaders are led by their passion. When you have a conversation with him, you quickly learn how passionate he is about helping Hispanics succeed and immediately want to join him in this journey. Find your passion and you too will be successful.
During the event, I met and was inspired by so many women who passionate about their business and the difference their business is making in the lives of so many. One of these inspiring women was Claudia M. Ponce. She is the President of Soroptimist, a non-profit organization that dedicates themselves to empowering women that become pregnant at a young age. They arm them with the knowledge and resources to fend for themselves and their children.
There were so many women who shared inspiring stories. Some of these successful business women were single mothers, one of them was a mother of eight who is now a powerhouse, full of life, charisma and optimism. Others had to face the challenge many Latinos do when they come to the United States, the challenge to learn English and grow a new network in a place they're not familiar with.
Here are some of the tips I shared with them in regards to their personal brand:
I take great memories from the event with me, as well as a new group of professionals to add to my network and mentor. Thank you for sharing Utah and a little bit of your lives with me. I'm here for anything you may need.
